GOALS & OBJECTIVES OF EDUCATION OFFERING
PURPOSE OF PRESENTATION (GOALS):
To assist treatment professionals with the utilization of cognitive restructuring concepts and techniques to address addiction and underlying barriers to recovery. Experientially teach the use of cognitive restructuring in applicable reality based skills & tools to assist the clinician & client in the treatment process. To supervise and critique professional facilitation of cognitive restructuring concepts specific to the D & A treatment provider. Assists the professional with helping the client to make desired changes in their lives. Specifically addressing denial, treatment, and relapse issues. To provide working knowledge of the facilitation process of cognitive restructuring concepts specific to D & A application.
COURSE CONTENT AND DESCRIPTION:
The course provides participants with a thorough introduction to the cognitive restructuring model specific to D & A treatment and the over-all recovery process. Participants will complete course with a specific action plan and goal development strategies including resources for self and client. Providing participants with specific skills and tools to assist clients with making desired changes in their lives. Specifically addresses denial, treatment and relapse issues. To supervise and critique professional facilitation of cognitive restructuring concepts “A Framework for Recovery” to be utilized in the D & A treatment setting.
INSTRUCTIONAL METHODS (VIDEO USE, ETC.):
Didactic presentation and group/experiential discussion, video, and informative handouts.
