Cognitive Restructuring for Criminal Justice & the D&A Client
GOALS & OBJECTIVES OF EDUCATION OFFERING
PURPOSE OF PRESENTATION (GOALS):
To provide participants with a working knowledge of cognitive psychology while demonstrating the effectiveness of combining this approach with traditional D&A treatment. Experientially to teach the participant the use of Cognitive Restructuring in applicable reality based skills & tools to aid both the clinician & client in the treatment process.
COURSE CONTENT AND DESCRIPTION:
The course utilizes (3) eight hour days to provide participants with a thorough introduction to the Cognitive Restructuring model, practical “how to” application, self inventory of skills, & barriers specific to work orientation. Participants will complete course with a specific action plan & goal development strategies including resources for self & client.
INSTRUCTIONAL METHODS (VIDEO USE, ETC.):
Didactic video, workshop / discussion groups, easel, overhead, handouts and workbook.
