Helping Families Cope With the Disease of Addiction Through Intervention

 

PURPOSE OF PRESENTATION (GOALS):
To provide families and friends with an effective tool for intervening upon the addicted individual. Discussed first will be the stages of the family disease in order that the participants may understand how they personally have been impacted by the disease. This will then be followed by in depth discussion on how to most effectively intervene upon the addict.

COURSE CONTENT AND DESCRIPTION:
A step by step discussion of the stages of the family disease, how families are affected and how they may conduct intervention. Discussed will be the elements required for successfully conducting intervention and when intervention is and is not appropriate.

INSTRUCTIONAL METHODS (VIDEO USE, ETC.):
Didactic presentation, group / experiential discussion, video and informative handouts.
